Material
Seven Souls
Worldly Troika
Lots and lots of Burroughs reading from The Western Lands. In this incarnation of Material, some of the music is Hip-hop-ish and features multiple remix/remodels of the song Seven Souls. Some notable guests (other than the usual stable-mates) are rapper Rammellzee, DJ Spooky and Tetsu Inoue.

Worldly Troika
"...Can any soul survive the searing fireball of an atomic blast? If humans and animal souls are seen as electromagnetic force fields, such fields could be totally disrupted by a nuclear explosion. The mummy's 'nightmare: disintegration of souls, and this is precisely the ultrasecret and supersensitive function of the atom bomb: a Soul Killer, to alleviate an escalating soul glut." ~ William S. BurroughsI couldn't think of anything more appropriate to follow up the last post...

wowie zowie, you ARE on a laswell trip, chardy!
bass or sub bass, that's the question, and if you're still eager to hear some MORE kind-of-laswell-related stuff, i'll give you a very kind smack of a guitar jewel:
in orangland it'll be, at last, where the lucky deevil will rest quite fast - for good, of course, cause my ears are burning - of too much good music and too many hours typing.
cheerio!
Cool!
Oranj Aural is usually one of my first stops. I can't wait!
holy crap, rich
between the recent posts you have here and finding axiom's Funkronomicon on oink yesterday... I'm going to have to start deleting porn to get these to fit on my nearly-filled hard drive.
Y'mean you don't have a dedicated external hard drive for porn and/or music?
I had to move lotsa stuff to leave some buffer room for stealing.. er, ripping DVDs. For archival reasons, don't ya know...
Two things I'm looking for...
Funcronomicon and Praxis Mutatis Mutandis...
thanks as usual for your exqueeeseet taste (which parallels my own, strangely)
noticed you had Burroughs Breakthrough in th eGRey Room on your other blog ... um, er, any chance of seeing that over here (wink, nudge)
only one external HD ? ;)
I had put up BTIGR about a year ago on my dead review only blog.
I just might put it up next, who knows! Most of my posts on KUR originated over there, so don't be surprised if an old review from there gets dusted off and has a download link. Sadly, I no longer have as much time for writing as I used to.
nice one! I think Burroughs reads from The Western Lands on this music, not The Place of dead roads. cheers,
Whoops!
i think you're right.
I get confused as he reuses bits of his text from novel to novel.
Thanks for the correction.
yeah, Moog, this is the 90's reissue on Troika, and I believe it's very radically remixed. I'd be curious to hear what the original sounds like.
I think the Funkronomicon and Praxis DID expire.
It seems like those albums continually evade me.
